I would recommend this to a friend!
This shoe is sturdy and well constructed. For a senior thrower it fits the bill for comfort, size and stability. I use it for training more than competition, and it has held up well over a year of heavy throwing.
I sized up to gain some width, but having since purchased it in my normal size I can say that it still fits my wider feet (bunions, anyone)? If you want to add an insole for arch support or cushioning (it does not have much), or an orthotic, I would go ahead and size up. Throwing shoe manufacturers have not really done much for wider feet.
The shoe is not really for anyone looking for turning speed, as the sole is grippy even when the initial texture wears off. It is also not designed to keep you on the ball of your foot, as it has virtually no toe drop. But that makes it very stable, especially for glide shot putters and hammer throwers.
Others have praised its design, but the previous Phoenix Fire color pattern was a lot cooler. Come on designers!
